At an already very busy time of year, and due to GP sickness, we have limited appointment availability over the next two weeks, and these are reserved for urgent medical needs.

There may be an alternative healthcare professional or clinical service available and appropriate for your symptoms / condition.

First Contact Physiotherapist

First Contact Physiotherapists (FCP) will provide expert assessment, diagnosis and management of soft tissue, muscle and joint conditions for adults aged 18 and over.  A patient can book an appointment directly with the FCP without having to see their GP first.

 

You can book an appointment with an FCP by contacting your GP Practice Reception.

 

Following an assessment the FCP will provide self-management and exercise advice, refer on or request further investigations if needed and offer joint injections in line with evidenced based practice.

Urgent Dental Service in Greater Manchester

If you need urgent dental care and your dentist is closed or you don’t have a regular dentist, you can access the Greater Manchester Urgent Dental Care Service.

 

How to access the Urgent Dental Service:

 

  • Contact 0333 332 3800 between 8am – 10pm, 7 days a week.

Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES) – Stockport

Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES) is available to use for the assessment and management of urgent recent onset eyecare conditions.

 

If you have any of the following symptoms below, you should contact a local CUES Optician:

  • Red eye with pain/ photophobia
  • Painful eye
  • Recent (< 3 months) visual floaters and/or flashes
  • Diplopia, distorted vision
  • Sudden loss / partial loss of vision
  • Mild trauma and foreign bodies (superficial, blunt, non-penetrating injuries)

 

How to access Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES):

 

  • Contact your Local Optician in the Stockport area*.

Pharmacy First Service

The new Pharmacy First service, launched 31 January 2024, adds to the existing consultation service (below) and enables community pharmacies to complete episodes of care for 7 common conditions following defined clinical pathways:

 

Clinical pathway Age range
Acute otitis media* (Ear Infection) 1 to 17 years
Impetigo 1 year and over
Infected insect bites 1 year and over
Shingles 18 years and over
Sinusitis 12 years and over
Sore throat 5 years and over
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections Women 16-64 years

 

How to access the Pharmacy First Service:

  • Contact your Local Pharmacy and ask for any of the clinical pathways above.

NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service

The NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service has run since October 2019. The consultation service enables patients to be referred into community pharmacy for a minor illness or an urgent repeat medicine supply, for any symptoms groups listed below:

 

  • Acne, spots, and pimples
  • Allergic reaction
  • Ankle or foot pain or swelling
  • Athlete’s foot
  • Bites or stings, insect, or spider
  • Blisters
  • Constipation
  • Cough
  • Cold and ‘flu
  • Diarrhoea
  • Ear discharge or ear wax
  • Earache
  • Eye, red or irritable
  • Eye, sticky or watery
  • Eyelid problems
  • Hair loss
  • Headache
  • Hearing problems or blocked ear
  • Hip, thigh, or buttock pain or swelling
  • Knee or lower leg pain
  • Lower back pain
  • Lower limb pain or swelling
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Nasal congestion
  • Pain and/or frequency passing
  • Rectal pain
  • Scabies
  • Scratches and grazes
  • Sinusitis
  • Shoulder pain
  • Skin, rash
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Sore throat
  • Teething
  • Tiredness
  • Toe pain or swelling
  • Vaginal discharge
